Key Personnel

Anthony Phillips

Anthony Phillips became an integral part of Buckingham & Co when he started with the firm in 1985 first as a trainee and then as a fully qualified Chartered Certified Accountant.

As his colleagues are only too quick to acknowledge, Anthony's technical abilities are impressive and these are combined with a wealth of practical experience.

He is passionate about nurturing a business and watching it grow and flourish. Whether this is from the start-up stage or  involves an established company which has reached the ‘next big step', his guidance, enthusiasm and involvement has proved an invaluable component in many a success story.

Anthony’s expertise covers all aspects of tax planning, general accounting and auditing. He also has a particular interest in succession planning, believing that where relevant every client should have a coherent plan for the passing down of a business to the next generation.

Deborah O'Neill

Deborah started her Accountancy career in 1985, training and qualifying with BT in London. The following ten years saw her climb the corporate ladder with a variety of key roles within the organisation, including the setting up of BT Cable Television Services.

She then moved on to work at the BBC both in Radio and Television where, prior to taking a career break to be at home with her two children, she was Head of Finance for Children's Television. The responsibilities and challenges of such a role were, she says, more than equalled by the successes. On returning to full-time work, she realised she wanted to utilise her own strong commercial background to benefit individual businesses. She therefore made the move from the politics of corporate life into practice, starting at Buckingham & Co in 2003.

Deborah's combination of commercial expertise along with her technical abilities, give her a unique insight into the multi-layered issues faced today by established businesses, large and small as well as by entrepreneurs. It is, she says, the involvement with these businesses and the role she establishes for herself within them, that is the most enjoyable part of what she does.
